- Unplug unused electrical appliances.

Check the condition of all types of electrical appliances and ensure that the switches are turned off or, ideally, unplug the electrical appliances that are not in use to prevent electrical short circuits that could lead to fires.

- Shut off water and check for pipe leaks.

Inspect for any pipe leaks and make sure to shut off the water valves, such as those in the kitchen and office bathrooms, as well. Don't forget to check for any leaks in the plumbing system.
